Estate planning is much more than writing a Will and Avoiding probate.

Planning is about protecting you, your family, and your money during your lifetime and beyond.

How does planning protect you, your family, and your money?

Proper estate planning makes sure your and your family’s private business remains private instead of public. If you don’t have a plan, then there is a good chance your financial information will end up in the public record when something happens.

Companies exist that watch for these public records. I call them “financial predators.” The financial predators prey on your family. Their job is to take away what you left to your family or what you have. They may take the form of credit card companies offering a new card because of an inheritance. They may also be outright scam artists trying to steal from you and your family.

Estate Planning reduces family fights. By making your wishes clear, a plan helps ensure that your family has nothing to fight about.

With a plan, you’ve decided who will be in charge if you can’t make decisions.

Estate Planning makes sure that the Government interferes in your and your family’s life as little as possible. If you don’t have a plan and are unable to make decisions, your family must get a Judge to give them permission to manage your affairs. When you pass, then a Judge is in charge of Probate. A Judge enforces Government law. Either way, because it is a court proceeding, it has a public record.

You only have two choices – plan or don’t plan. It’s your choice. Plan and have it your way or don’t plan and let the State make the decisions.
